Photos from the Airforce helicopter crash in Kaduna today, 7 killed

These are some photos from the crash site of the Dornier 228 aircraft belonging to Nigerian air-force that crashed at the Nigerian defense academy old site in Kaduna at about 6:45 this morning. The helicopter was said to be on a routine training flight and was heading to Abuja from the Nigerian Airforce base in Kaduna, when the incident occurred. All 7 people on-board, including the pilot, co-pilot, two engineers and three passengers all died. See more photos from the crash site

A cancer patient's posthumous inspirational message goes viral after her death

After battling cancer for six years, Seema Jaya Sharma passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015. However before her death, the 37-year-old Redbridge, Essex resident had her son posthumously post an inspirational message from her account few hours after her death. Her inspirational message went viral after being shared on Facebook. He began his mother's final message with "My mum passed away today at 14:10. She wrote this as her final status...she wanted her last words to be 'I got 21seconds to go!!! ( a reference to the single '21 Seconds' by So Solid Crew.) A statement by a spokesperson for The Department of State Security Service (DSS), Tony Opuiyo today said the agency disrupted a spying network mounted by Boko Haram terrorists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. According to NAN, the Boko Haram terrorist arrested is a man named Sulaiymon Abdulraman, from Kogi State. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says arrangement has been concluded for the sale of its 2016 application documents. This is contained in a statement by the board’s Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos. According to the statement, the sales is to prepare candidates early for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). It said that candidates were urged to purchase the examination scratch cards from Zenith Bank,  Sky Bank and First Bank . ”The registration fee for the UTME is N5,000 and candidates are also to pay  N500 to obtain the textbook, The Last Days at Forcados High School’. Candidates will, however, be issued the book at the point of registration after showing evidence of payment,” the statement said. I read with amazement the story on page 16 of The PUNCH,August 19,2015,on  how no fewer than 2,000 commercial s*x Workers in Awka,the Anambra State capital,have concluded plans to commence their action against the state government . It means prostitution is legalised in that state.Their leader was even reported to pointing accusing finger at the government officials as their best customers who throw money at them;"They want me to expose them?. Awka with only about 301,000 population in 2006 has over 2,000 prostitutes in one group. This is more than the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. The Anambra State Government should allow the strike for everlasting and that would be the best thing that can happen to the state .it is the handiwork of God.

Nigeria’s former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) celebrates his 74th birthday today. The man fondly called IBB by his admirers hosted some journalists at his Minna mansion to speak about his life experiences so far.   IBB specifically mentioned the bloody Orkar coup and the Nigerian civil war as incidents in his life that he is grateful to God for, The Nation reports. When asked about his survival from the coup, IBB said:“I will continue to remain grateful to God. Indonesia plane carrying 54 people goes missing

An Indonesian domestic flight carrying 54 passengers and crew has gone missing. The plane, said to be about 27 years old, lost contact with air traffic control in Papua province around 2.55pm local time The Trigana Air Service flight carrying 44 adult passengers, five children and five crew members, left Sentani Airport at 2:22 p.m. and was supposed to land at Oksibil airport at about 3:05 p.m but disappeared 10 minutes before it was due to land. Indonesia Transport ministry said no distress call was made from the plane. Search and rescue have begun though it has since been called off because of bad weather. Search for the plane, believed to have crashed in the steep mountains, will continue tomorrow. Quite sad!
