A majority of the approximately 160,000 respondents poll answered in the affirmative Because of the way a Twitter user is able to poll their followers, however, Trump did not get a final answer until Wednesday afternoon, 24 hours after he had already pulled out of the debate. Trump is reportedly planning a competing event in Des Moines, Iowa, near the location of the Fox News debate, that will be focused on veterans. He is also scheduled to appear on Fox News Wednesday evening, leading some observers to speculate whether his whole tiff with the network is a ploy to hype a debate he may eventually attend anyway.

French Justice Minister Christiane Taubira has resigned over proposals to strip convicted French-born terrorists of their citizenship if they have another nationality. Current laws already allow for naturalised citizens to be stripped of their nationality. The new plans come as part of a series of reforms after 130 people were killed in terror attacks in Paris last November. The measure was described as a "strong, symbolic act against those who have excluded themselves from the national community" by French Prime Minister Manuel Valls. Other reforms set to be debated next month include the right to declare a state of emergency, powers to raid homes and to place people under house arrest without judicial oversight. Though right-wing politicians have praised the reforms, many in the ruling Socialist party see the "loss of nationality" clause as discriminatory towards one part of the part of the population. When he realised HMRC had discovered the fraud in January 2015, he moved to the Spanish resort and opened a bar to evade capture. But less than eight months later, O'Hagan scored an own goal when he returned to the UK so he could see his team Everton play Manchester City at Goodison Park. At the request of HMRC, Merseyside Police arrested the 60-year-old at the turnstiles. On Wednesday, O'Hagan was sentenced to 18 months behind bars at Liverpool Crown Court. A car has crashed into the front of a mobile phone shop as the driver allegedly tried to flee from police. The motorist had apparently refused to stop for officers in an unmarked car and then lost control of the vehicle. He drove down the Broadway in Crouch End, north London, at high speed before turning into Park Road where the crash happened. Officers were not chasing the suspect at the time of the smash, which left the shop front destroyed. Following the crash, the driver got out and ran off as a police hunt got under way involving Scotland Yard's helicopter team. Officers later arrested the driver on suspicion of drug offences. No one was injured in the crash. But 50 people were evacuated by police, and the London Fire Brigade was called amid concerns over the safety of the structure of the building. The operation — whose details remain largely secret — was at least the third time in recent years that FBI agents took control of a child pornography site but left it online in an attempt to catch users who officials said would otherwise remain hidden behind an encrypted and anonymous computer network.
