The first witness presented by the EFCC to testify at the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, Michael Wetkas, told the Code of Conduct Tribunal that the Personal Assistant to Senate President Bukola Saraki made N600,000 to N900,000 deposits into his personal account 50 times in one day. According to  The Cable , Wetkas said Saraki made the deposits during his tenure as governor of Kwara state. “When the defendant was governor of Kwara state between 2003 and 2011. Husband of former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegations of laundering more than $600,000 through his personal accounts. According to Channels TV, he was quizzed for many hours and was released on administrative bail. He is expected to return to the anti-graft agency headquarters tomorrow.

Fitbit’s new activity tracker, the Alta, appears to be the result of the company playing it safe, aiming for design above lots of features. As activity trackers go, it does all the basics, namely keeping tabs on steps taken, calories burned, distance travelled, amount of sleep - all the standard stuff.What it doesn’t do though, is track your running and cycling routes with GPS, meaning it’s aimed primarily at the casual user. The upside of this is that it promises to last for a full five days in between charges, and manages to keep a sleeker profile than a bulkier GPS-laden fitness tracker. Human Rights Watch has discovered that hundreds of women are being subjected to the tests, being administered by court officials in Iraq. Rothna Begum, a human rights researcher, has interviewed young women about their harrowing ordeals. One, named Luna, was sold four times as a sex slave after being captured by ISIS fighters. The young girl is one of many women who managed to escape her captors and find freedom once again in Iraq. However upon reporting their abuse, many are being forced to undergo a ‘virginity test’ which the World Health Organisation (WHO) has previously condemned. Experts say the tests are painful and can cause psychological harm. Bought by a bidder from the US, the 1957 335 Spider Scaglietti is one of only four ever produced and won the 1958 Cuba Grand Prix. A majority of the approximately 160,000 respondents poll answered in the affirmative Because of the way a Twitter user is able to poll their followers, however, Trump did not get a final answer until Wednesday afternoon, 24 hours after he had already pulled out of the debate. Trump is reportedly planning a competing event in Des Moines, Iowa, near the location of the Fox News debate, that will be focused on veterans. French Justice Minister Christiane Taubira has resigned over proposals to strip convicted French-born terrorists of their citizenship if they have another nationality. Current laws already allow for naturalised citizens to be stripped of their nationality. The new plans come as part of a series of reforms after 130 people were killed in terror attacks in Paris last November. The measure was described as a "strong, symbolic act against those who have excluded themselves from the national community" by French Prime Minister Manuel Valls. Other reforms set to be debated next month include the right to declare a state of emergency, powers to raid homes and to place people under house arrest without judicial oversight. Though right-wing politicians have praised the reforms, many in the ruling Socialist party see the "loss of nationality" clause as discriminatory towards one part of the part of the population. Jail For Tax Dodger Who Returned To UK For Match A businessman who moved to Benidorm to hide from the taxman has been jailed after he flew back to Britain so he could watch his favourite football team. Damian O'Hagan, from Liverpool, had charged one of his clients more than £90,000 in VAT - and then tried to keep the money for himself. When he realised HMRC had discovered the fraud in January 2015, he moved to the Spanish resort and opened a bar to evade capture. But less than eight months later, O'Hagan scored an own goal when he returned to the UK so he could see his team Everton play Manchester City at Goodison Park. At the request of HMRC, Merseyside Police arrested the 60-year-old at the turnstiles. On Wednesday, O'Hagan was sentenced to 18 months behind bars at Liverpool Crown Court.
